Period  in a number this a group of three digit that are separated by commas/three place values
expanded form  a number written as a sum of the whole number (342= 300+40+2)
greater than  symbol to indicate the first number in an expression is larger (78>54)
less than symbol to indicate the first number in an expression is smaller (54<78)
rounding  looking at a place value and the number to the right to round
conjecture  a statement believed to be true
